IYED Report, EAA Chapter 1114

Advertising brings in the kids!

Louisburg, N.C. – June 21, 2006 – What a great Young Eagles rally! One hundred and thirty Young Eagles rides! Yesterday, the Louisburg airport was the place to be. The weather and the public turnout were wonderful at Louisburg for the second Young Eagles rally of the 2006 season.

Special thanks to Leigh Osborne at the Franklin County Regional airport for welcoming the rally pilots and volunteers and making us all feel at home. She and her crew did everything they could to make this rally a success.

The rally was advertised in the Franklin Times and Wake Weekly newspapers, announced on the Louisburg radio station and via a special announcement at the Wake County Speedway on Friday night. Additionally there were flyers placed in stores around Louisburg. Thanks to everyone who placed flyers up in businesses and in their hometowns. We had visitors from Rocky Mount who responded to flyers placed by Dick Fisher. Also people arrived from the American Airlines call center who saw the ad in their break room. I don’t know who put the ad there, but thanks! Every ad placed will be seen by someone.

The pilots and ground volunteers stayed busy all day from beginning to end. The food court had a great day and nearly sold out of hot dogs and drinks. Unfortunately the cookies sold too fast and I didn’t get one. The money raised both via the food court and through donations will help greatly with sending our next kids to aviation camp.

Photos from the rally are being placed on EAA Chapter 1114’s Web site (
www.eaa1114.org). Check them out here!. My thanks to Dwight Frye for getting them online.
