EAA Northwest Regional Fly-In, Arlington, Wash. – Sept. 8, 2005 – Each July, the EAA Northwest Regional Fly-In is held in Arlington, Wash. Through the years, the volunteers at the Fly-In have enthusiastically supported the Young Eagles program and 2005’s event was no different.
According to Kent Loos, who helped coordinate the EAA Young Eagles activities, 10 pilots in a wide variety of airplanes flew a total of 240 Young Eagles.
“The kids got to fly in everything from twins to taildraggers both new and classic,” Kent said. “The volunteer ground crew and the pilots were fantastic to work with. What a great group of people. They were the ones who made such a successful event for the kids. It was great see all of the smiles when they climb out of the airplane. Best of all, we were able to fly all the kid who showed up!”
In addition to the flights, several Boy Scouts were able to earn their aviation merit badges.
If you’ve never had an opportunity to attend the EAA Northwest Regional Fly-In, I can highly recommend the event. The scenery is outstanding, the volunteers friendly and the Fly-In is well organized. Next year’s event is scheduled for July 5 – 9, 2006.
