GREETINGS
Once again Summer has gone by all too quickly. I can hardly believe that EAA AirVenture 2005 has been over for a month. It was great to meet new friends and spend time with old ones. Fall is a great time to plan a Young Eagles Rally. The kids are now back in school and youth organizations are looking for activities. Our goal for 2005 is to fly 100,000 Young Eagles —we still need your support to meet that goal.

2005 Chapter Goals
Please notify our office when your Chapter has reached your goal for 2005. If you have not mailed a Chapter Goal Card, let us know where you set your goal for this year. We like to give “special recognition” to the Chapters that reach their goal.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Last year, we encouraged EAA members and Chapters to participate in “Make A Difference Day.” Response was positive and we’d like to encourage you to join this nationwide effort again this year. Our success was highlighted when the Paul Newman Foundation selected EAA Chapter 501, Lincoln Park, N.J., to receive one of 10 $10,000 grants. Find out more about their accomplishment on the Chapter's web site. Please consider making an effort to join us in making a difference in the lives of children on October 22 and, as we have done since 1992, on a daily basis as well. Visit the Make A Difference Day web site for more information.

REGISTRATIONS
If we could gauge the number of Young Eagles flown this summer by the amount of paperwork mailed out we would have piles of Registrations back to us! However, that is not the case so far, so I am wondering if there is a lot of paperwork on someone’s desk or in a box waiting to be sent in? Please get those Registration forms in the mail to us as soon as possible. The Young Eagles are waiting to see their names in the World’s Largest Logbook and the pilots want to make sure their flights are properly credited.

YOUNG EAGLES WEBSITE
The new Young Eagles website (www.youngeagles.org) is up and running, with regular updates. For all the latest and greatest information, check the website often. Click on Volunteers and then on the Resources icon. You’ll find all the information and forms you need for the program, along with some great ideas for “hands-on” activities to do with kids. Check it out today! Plus, there is a Volunteer Recognition page where you can tell the world about your latest event or your outstanding volunteers. Send the information to sbuss@eaa.org.

GROUND VOLUNTEERS
Please remember to recognize your Ground Support Volunteers. We all know how valuable they are to the success of your events! We can send a personalized Certificate of Appreciation or Flightline Volunteer pin. The recognition guidelines can be found in your Chapter Coordinator folder. Send me a note indicating your volunteer recognition needs and I’ll be happy to take care that for you.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Fall is always a time of reflection for me. Life keeps on changing and for some of us, it has changed more than we could have imagined. This job has taught me so much more than just offering kids a free airplane ride. There is a genuine camaraderie among all of the volunteers, along with the personal commitment and true joy at having shared a passion for aviation with a young person. The core values of this program remain strong. Thank you to each of you, and I hope you have a good feeling knowing that what you do has made a positive difference in someone’s life. Take care and if I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me – e-mail: mkunes@eaa.org, Telephone: (877) 806-8902 or write PO Box 2683, Oshkosh, WI 54903-2683.
Thank you,
