Close to 1,000 people gathered for the annual Young Eagles award dinner on Wednesday, July 31. Adding special significance to the event was the recognition of 25 years of the EAA Air Academy. Young Eagle volunteers, Air Academy alumni and staff and several special guests, including ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, attended. 
Dick Rutan and several of the Vietnam-era MISTY pilots were honored guests at Wednesday’s celebration. The MISTYs were featured Tuesday evening at Theater in the Woods.

Young Eagles Chairman Harrison Ford provided his thanks to the Young Eagles volunteers and supporters at Wednesday’s event. Mr. Ford presented the awards to this year’s honored Young Eagles volunteers. Read more about this year’s recipients. Earlier in the day, Mr. Ford attended the Young Eagle Leader’s Workshop.

Young Eagle flights are available on a limited basis during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. Here, pilot Jack Lewis (North Branch, MI) returns with three new Young Eagles. Jack has flown more than 1,000 Young Eagles.

Fareed Guyot (Rockford, IL) and three of his AirVenture Young Eagles. In addition to assisting with Young Eagles flights, Fareed also volunteers as the station manager for EAA Radio.

Ed Jeziorny (Omro, WI) is a long-time Young Eagles pilot and Field Representative. Ed has volunteered to support Young Eagles since 1993. He now has nearly 900 Young Eagles to his credit.

Chairman Harrison Ford dropped by the Young Eagles pavilion to check up on the volunteers and thank them for their support. Mr. Ford greets Butch Bejna (Addison, IL). Butch has flown more than 1,400 Young Eagles in his Cessna 150. Behind Butch is Laura Million (Glen Carbon, IL), Chapter Coordinator for EAA Chapter 32 (St. Louis).
