“Speed and Angels” DVD available

January 29, 2007 — If you’ve thought about flying in the U.S. Navy but want to know what it would really be like before you enlist, you should watch this.

Speed & Angels
will be released on DVD by the end of the month. The disc includes trailers and feature film clips, nine pilot biography shorts, as well as the documentary that follows two Navy fighter pilots — Jay and Meagan — through training and off to war. DVD Order Information.

Francesco “Paco” Chierici
, the producer and a distinguished U.S. Navy fighter pilot himself, said they are on track for a January 30 release. In addition, discussions are ongoing to screen the documentary at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2007.

The movie started as a documentary on
The Fighting Saints of VFC-13, the only fighter pilots in the world today who teach the art of dogfighting. But the director, Peyton Wilson, soon realized that while the story of dogfighting was interesting, it wasn’t enough for a 90-minute film. As she got to know all the pilots, she focused in on two who epitomize the dedication and passion of all naval aviators.

The film mainly follows Jay and Meagan in their training and as they go off to war. But it also shows “the emotional journey” fighter pilots go through.

And while their story tells about the realities of naval fighter pilots, there is an even bigger story to tell.

“If there is something you want bad enough, you have to keep fighting for it,” Jay says. “If you have a dream, you have to do everything in your power to make it come true.”

The film also includes amazing shots never seen before. “This film is the closest you can come to landing on an aircraft carrier or dogfighting without actually doing it,” says Wilson. “The sound and visuals are so dramatic that you’ll think fighter jets are flying over your head.”
