EAA Young Eagles - AirVenture Volunteer Areas

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

Young Eagles Pavilion: This building is located just north of the FAA Control Tower is the hub of Young Eagles activities during AirVenture Oshkosh. Volunteers distribute general program information to interested parents, assist in recruiting new participants and support existing Young Eagles pilots and volunteers. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. starting on Sunday, July 24

Flight Plan/Young Eagles: Located inside the Learn to Fly Tent, (across from the EAA Welcome Center on ConocoPhillips Plaza) will feature information about learning to fly, including the Young Eagles Flight Plan. Volunteers will be assisting Youth Programs manager Brian O’Lena, and explain the elements of the flight plan and how Young Eagles can get started on the path to a pilot certificate. A brief training session will be provided. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. starting on Monday, July 25

Green Machines: Our volunteers a ride in the “luxury” of our fully loaded Young Eagles golf carts. The carts are loaded with packets to distribute to new pilots and existing pilots alike. You must like traveling on rough roads such as the campground and be able to handle the heat and sun. Volunteers are needed daily between 9 a.m. and sunset beginning Saturday, July 24.

Flight Line Crew: Volunteers are needed to conduct a Ground School for Young Eagles and administer the daily flights. Also, assistance is needed to ensure safety near the flight line. Volunteers are needed between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 28.

Gathering Crew: Eight volunteers are needed to help re-set the EAA AirVenture Museum’s Eagle Hangar following the Wednesday night Young Eagles dinner. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, to help re-arrange tables, set chairs and assist the EAA staff with decorations for the Gathering of Eagles. Lunch is included! Volunteers are needed Thursday, July 28, from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Volunteer slots are filled on a first-come basis, so please let us know your intentions as soon as possible. We will try to accommodate your preferences, but we may ask you to consider other options depending on our Volunteer needs. We want you to make the most of your AirVenture experience.
