In order to qualify for a job with the airlines, you do not need any particular courses, but most airlines require a college degree. It is possible to find a college course that prepares you for the private pilot written test and be able to "kill two birds with one stone." Like EAA's AeroScholars www.aeroscholars.com After high school, you could attend a school that offers an aviation program, but that is not necessary. No matter how you do it, either in college or at a local airport, you'll need to earn your pilot's certificate and additional ratings. I would also encourage you to study a field that you are interested in so that you have second career to fall back on. With the airlines cutting back as they are now, a lot of my pilot friends are starting second businesses to insure their future.
