Positive G's the those experienced by pilots when they turn hard, and the force pushes them into the seat. In other words, the force is from head to foot. Negative G is the opposite, and is much more uncomfortable. While flying the F-16, I could pull 9 positive G, but only 2-3 negative G. Think of an airplane in a loop, when the pilot pulls straight up from level, that's positive G. If the pilot pushes the nose down to form an "outside" loop, that is negative G. Put another way, you have small negative G’s at the top of a roller coaster, and positive G’s at the bottom.
