More important than being male or female is your willingness to work hard to follow your dreams. While being a pilot may not be a traditional career for a girl, the number of women pilots has increased tremendously in the past twenty years. If you have the interest, there are plenty of opportunities. There are many mentors and organizations to encourage and guide you toward an aviation career. Most notable is the Women in Aviation International which is closely affiliated with the EAA. My personal experience and achievements in aviation have shown that the career choice was perfect for me. The decision of whether to pursue a career in the aviation industry is the same for everyone, male or female, and should be based on the overall opportunities. Be good at what you do…be sure you enjoy what you do and don't ever let being a girl, keep you from trying anything! If it’s a good career for a guy…it’s a great career for a girl!
