Answer :
A smooth landing happens when the pilot of the airplane stops the airplane's descent just a few inches above the runway. Then the pilot continues to slow the airplane just a little bit more. This decrease in airspeed will cause the airplane to descend just a bit, and the airplane's tires will touch the ground. A pilot uses his senses of sight, sound (listening to the level of wind noise the airplane makes as it flies) and touch, as he or she does their best to "feel" the airplane though the controls. A smooth landing is often the goal of pilots when we fly; we don't always succeed, but it's fun to practice! Best Regards, H.G. Frautschy Editor, Vintage Airplane magazine
