January 27, 2009 — Tuition costs don’t go down. But if you’re majoring in an aviation-related program, or even pursuing a career in engineering, mathematics or the physical or biological sciences, you can offset those rising costs through the EAA Scholarship Program.
The program encourages, recognizes and supports excellence among EAA members studying the technologies and skills of science and aviation. Besides being an EAA member or recommended by an EAA member, applicants must be well rounded and involved in school and community activities.
The deadline to apply is February 28.
The scholarships include:
§ Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Scholarship — This scholarship is awarded to five students who have been accepted at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Each scholarship is $4,000 per year for five years. Preference is given to applicants who have attended or are attending EAA Aviation Camps.
§ Payzer Scholarship — One $5,000 scholarship will be presented to an individual accepted or enrolled in an accredited college, university or post-secondary school with an emphasis on technical information. Applicants must be pursing a career in engineering, mathematics, or the physical or biological sciences.
§ Hansen Scholarship —This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to two students who are in good academic standing and enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical college pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering or aeronautical engineering. Financial need is a consideration.
§ Richard Lee Vernon Aviation Scholarship — One $500 scholarship will be awarded to an individual accepted to a recognized professional aviation-training program in an institution of higher learning or aviation technical school. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to complete the training, attain acceptable grades, and show a need for financial support.
